My Review

No matter where you spawn on this board, it's going to be a good one. Mountains are scattered in just the right frequency to be within walking distance of any point in the map. Plenty of trees and lots of caves to explore. This is another one of those seeds you hear about on the Internet when you type "best Minecraft seeds" into your favorite search engine. This level is, however, rated advanced because of several encounters with day-walking skeletons and creepers.

Items of Interest

  • [-302.70.65] floaters and a waterfall
  • [-267.68.-83] hidi-hole and a medium cave
  • [-316.75.-139] lava pit
  • [-352.73.-145] skeletons and creeper cave
  • [-388.75.-169] shortcut cave

Images

This is the cave complex right next to where I spawned. It has multiple deep caves and shortcut caves connecting the entire complex. Where they intersect, there is a large cavern. Really interesting to see and full of both coal and iron. Not a bad place to start.

My Review

A lot of awards are being handed out today and this level is no exception. The location where I spawned was amazing -- both in terms of visual attractiveness and collecting-tons-of-free-shit attractiveness. There was an above-ground, pre-built skeleton spawn farm ready to go with two chests of awesome stuff (including saddles). Beyond the cool spawn, the seed proper is also very interesting. It's mostly desert. In fact, it's kinda like walking around inside a Van Gogh painting. I saw a pig commit suicide by running into a cactus. I'm not sure, but I may have been hallucinating in the dry desert heat. Grandpa, is that you?

Items of Interest

  • [4.80.-12] a cave full of skeletons
  • [-2.67.-31] skeleton farm with a ring of moss stone and two chests full of crap. There is also another cave nearby.
  • [65.65.-74] clay deposit
  • [-67.75.-13] a short cliff diving experience
  • [48.120.52] Grandpa Willy

Images

The vast desert stretches out before me. Hope I have enough water. At right, this is the crazy skeleton farm with moss ring and first chest. The second chest is to the left under the sand. If you look closely, you can see that there's actually a cave that runs under this thing if you dig down.

My Review

I liked this board. This is the second request (murderdolls) I took a look at today for Terantatek, a guy on the GamesFAQs forum. There is a large mountain due east of the place where I spawned. This is full of wood and hidi-holes making it an excellent starting point. However, it's not for beginners. While there is plenty of wood, this level is a behemoth with many mountains that are difficult to traverse. Getting away from enemies was a problem on more than one occasion and it's also worth noting that in certain places the trees were so thick that enemies lurked even during the day. In fact, it took me five minutes to climb past a mountain because it was so steep and so massive that I had no other choice but to stop and mine my way over it. Now that's a good time!

Items of Interest

  • [-324.72.-36] coal, floaters, and some interesting spires
  • Due south of the spawn, I found two packs of wolves.
  • [-158.73.-14] pumpkins plus a shortcut cave with a deep cave connected to it in the middle.

Image Coordinates

The first shot is actually a four corners shot -- even though it doesn't look like it because that massive fucking mountain is in the way. That thing consumes a huge chunk of the board. The photo at right is one of the few places you can rest and cover good distance, with some steep mountains in the background.

My Review

You gotta give it to Minecraft, some of these random number seeds are pretty good. This one is no exception. One of the best of the day, this seed has one of the best spawn points I've seen so far. It's a perfect beginner world. The spawn features an almost complete hidi-hole plus a short-cut cave that runs under the hidi-hole. Plus, there's trees everywhere. Top quality stuff. Lots of pigs, a nice hilly terrain interlaced with water, and an inordinate amount of cacti.

Items of Interest

  • [-71.70.212] really cool sand dune

The above image is a four corners shot.

My Review

This is the first board of the day that I can say is truly balanced in most respects. Most important of all the things I like about this board is the spawn point -- which is just epic. There is a nearby massive cave with a lake in it that's easily convert-able into a hidi-hole. Lots of craters and sugar. The edges of the map are covered in interesting and rare formations; you have to walk to get there, but it's worth it. A great starter board for noobs, yet still interesting for veterans.

I would also like to mention that while this seed does have some truly interesting rock formations, it is 90% flat -- a great seed for building small towns.

Items of Interest

  • [8.68.345] exposed stone with coal and iron
  • [-180.64.336] medium cave with coal
  • [-289.68.378] pumpkins and a red flower patch
  • [-397.71.-165] massive overhang, two land bridges, a medium waterfall, and gravel
  • [-309.66.-304] large clay
  • [-397.79.-372] lone pumpkin
  • [-330.69.-378] deep cave complex with iron
  • [-321.65.-342] medium clay
  • [-243.71.-335] deep dead drop cave
  • [364.89.-319] large overhang/land bridge combination
  • [332.65.77] medium clay
  • [206.68.-111] lava pit with coal and iron nearby

Update - August 24, 2012

Due to the immense popularity of this particular seed, I have gone back and updated this blog post with additional photographs, a full map, and the above abbreviated list of landmarks.

Images

Above (top) is from a rocky outcrop due north of the spawn. It's a great little landmark spire and you can see the balance of the level in this one shot. Coordinates: -6.85.-191. Next (above, bottom), is a huge table-top overhang/land bridge combo sitting on top of a mountain. You can find this one at 364.89.-319.

At right (top), you'll see a lone sandy spire in the middle of the ocean in the northwest corner. I'd be careful digging on this thing because it looks like it could go at any second. The other photo at right is a shot from the prime attraction of this level: at -397.71.-165 there is a massive overhang/land bridge (shown) and a very nice waterfall.
