Etymology

Plums are drape fruits from the plant subgenus Prunus -- hence, when you dehydrate them they are known as "prunes". But why aren't the plums called "prunes" and the dried plums called "dried prunes"? Blame the cavemen. The word "plum" apparently predates all records and plums, grapes, and olives have been found at sites dating to over 10,000 BCE.

Notes

I can't recall a single seed that has more flatland areas than this one. It's as close to superflat as I've been able to dig up. Ironically, I also found a cliff diving event.

Notes

Four villages to chose from should keep you fairly busy. The abandoned mineshaft I found runs through a large ravine, so it's more open than your usual AMS. The crater lake was nice.

Etymology

WOW is an on-line video game -- called World of Warcraft -- that has undergone several iterations, revisions, and upgrades over the course of the near decade that it's been live. The original version of the game -- with no downloaded content -- is referred to by die-hard fans as "Vanilla WOW".

Notes

This seed is all about the villages. The first two villages were so close together that I was able to fit them in the same shot. You could easily connect them to form a little town. The dead drop cave was really a lot of fun.

Can't Miss

I'm pretty sure that the biggest single longest cave I've ever come across can be found at -197.45.148 and may be partially constructed from bits of the ravine that carves it's way through the northern wall. It's not terribly exciting, but it's a beast to plop down torches because there are a lot of bad guys hiding inside.

Grummer is a very unique map. Sadly, there are too many biomes on this one island. The mountains have some nice spots, but I found a huge abandoned mineshaft in the level that is quite complex.

My Review

This seed is about as flat as it gets. If you like mountains -- this is not the seed for you. There are two perfect dueling villages at 21.76.200 that you can combine because they are so close together.

My Review

This is an okay seed. Really, this one was all about two things: first, a massive cavern that I found that was, frankly, beautiful (see photos) and The End was actually pretty well laid out and easy to get over to the dragon. So I figured I'd throw it in here. The southwest corner of this map is all super swamp; avoid unless you need clay or something.

My Review

Holy villages! While the worst seed of the day, that's only because I tested dozens of seeds on Friday and this was the last of the best. This seed contains a massive desert with lots of flatland -- for those of you who don't want to cheat and use the superflat feature. There's a really nice village on top of a bluff and I found my first x8 diamond on this level -- though it wasn't the last. Not quite for beginners.

My Review

So, this seed has the most photographs I've ever attached to a blog post. There was an additional four images that didn't make the cut. This is without a doubt the most scenic seed I've found post-update. This seed has only the second black waterfall I've ever found -- albeit less spectacular than the first one. The epic cliff dive at 188.112.4 was so beautiful, I took a photo of it before I jumped. Despite the ring of desert and arctic ice surrounding it, this seed is a fantastic one to try for players of every level.
