Etymology

Native to Australia and New Zealand, the death adder (Elapidae acanthophis) is a stunningly venomous snake that, sadly, hunts via ambush. So because it doesn't move as humans walk by (unlike almost every other snake in the world), they were originally known as "deaf" because it was assumed they couldn't hear. Though no species of snake has external ears, not only can every snake hear but most have multiple auditory organs. So "deaf" is now "death".

Notes

Lots of lava pits on this one; the odds of catching a forest fire are quite good. There are several overhangs, a really large desert, and a great stronghold.
