My Review

The zombie trapped on the ledge would have made this seed on it's own, but even in walking the full map I found many places of interest and a level with good balance. It's not really for people just starting out in Minecraft for one simple reason: apparently there are spiders EVERYWHERE just beneath the surface because no matter where I went, I would find something cool and as I was writing it down I would hear spiders nearby. I'd turn and look and nothing. Clearly, there is a massive network of spider-infested, Cu Chi inspired underground tunnels heading toward my Saigon.

Items of Interest

  • [86.57.112] pitfall shortcut cave with waterfall

  • [47.80.116] small spire
  • [-156.67.74] medium lava pit with small clay
  • [-157.65.-159] medium clay

Images

At top, this was a really cool land bridge/spire/cave combination that probably should have had a name like the "10 Spot" or something like that, but I just didn't have the time. At right, it's very rare when you have the opportunity to stand in front of a zombie and do whatever you want and he can't do anything because he's trapped on a ledge. I said awful things about his mother, mooned him, then smote him in due course.

My Review

This was a really nice level that I think can be enjoyed by any player, including people who are just starting out. This is a beautiful archipelago. I successfully dove off of two cliffs into water. Great balance and a predominately flat seed round off the reasons why you should check this one out.

I really enjoyed this seed. I think it's a top quality prospect. There were numerous places where I could hear the sound of enemies just underfoot. Something tells me that you could pick any location and simply scratch the surface for a full-on battle. This is a well-balanced level, though I would only recommend it for advanced players if you plan on playing anything other than sleepy mode.

This seed features several caves with large mouths. This is a good example. This cave is imbedded in the side of a mountain and is actually very small compared to the size of its mouth. I will refer to this henceforth as Doughnut Cave.

At right, the top image is of a really long land bridge that stretches across the entrance to a small bay. While it may look thick from this angle, sanding on it reveals that it's only three or four blocks wide. You can find it at -337.70.-356. Below that, this is a view from inside a cave complex looking up past a medium waterfall at the mouth of another nearby cave.

I actually first took a look at this board a week ago but I wanted to wait until I had the full map before I posted it. This board was awesome because there was a zombie spawn within inches of where I spawned. It was a perfectly formed square in the sand and the elevated pieces were the chests and the LSD pig. It doesn't get any easier than that. Unfortunately, that was the end of the pleasure ride, as this level is a tough one that I would reserve for expert players who want a challenge.

Items of Interest

  • [13.69.21] perfect square zombie spawn
  • [21.66.103] gravel

  • [-165.65.137] lots of sheep

Well would you look at that? What strange phenomenon would create such a perfectly formed cube? Is it the work of volcanoes... or the devil?

A great little beginner seed. There were some decent overhangs and a river or two. For the most part, I would easily recommend this to any beginner. It might, however, be a little boring for anyone looking for a challenge.

Even though I spawned in a depressing snow-land, there were plenty of resources nearby and if you walk five minutes in any direction, you get back to more habitable biomes. This is a great level for beginners: some good hidi-holes and lots of trees. I can be a little daunting moving from one place to another through some of the steeper mountains, but other than that, an all around good level.

Items of Interest

  • [-23.71.59] deep hole with waterfall

  • [-33.78.171] waterfall and a long shortcut cave
  • [-46.78.205] two caves
  • [-63.76.198] sound of skeletons
  • [-145.78.248] overhang with crazy mushroom collection

Images

At top, I spawned in a little chilly spot. At right, this is a huge land bridge that I found. You may notice that the right side of the image appears to be speckled with artifacts. Actually, those are two types of mushrooms that were growing en masse in the shade of the land bridge. You can find them at -145.78.248.

So, I gave this level a shot because I thought maybe I could wish some really cool floaters my way. The result: not a one. The trouble with this level is that all of the really good hidi-holes that I found were submerged. That's a real pain in the ass if you're just getting started. I also found it interesting that there were so many pigs in certain places that they ended up wondering around on the ice sheets. Pigs on ice -- what a gas!

If you're expecting a grand waterfall pouring off a beautiful overhang in some scenic marvel that quenches your thirst for eye candy, you're gonna be sorely disappointed. This was the worst seed of the day -- not because I didn't find a single waterfall, mind you, but because this seed is openly hostile and inhospitable in every sense of the word. In order to survive, I had to kill and slice open a tauntaun. There is snow everywhere and trees have all but vanished. I was pretty sure the game had simply glitched out. If you want to cry, jack this puppy up on survival mode and kiss your ass goodbye.

  • [84.70.-21] deep zombie cave
  • [35.73.-26] the only green on the board; this is not a waterfall... this mountain is taking a piss on your leg
  • [73.71.-96] small overhang

Yeah, that was my spawn. I didn't have too many expectations after that.

Since the first one worked out so well (12345678910), let's go the other way! Well what'dya know? It's even better. In fact, it's the second best seed I took a look at today. High, jutting mountains that pop up completely out of the blue is the call of the day for this level. Zombies sounds just walkin' around and shielded creepers make this a challenging seed; avoid this one if you're still just learning Minecraft.

Items of Interest

  • [184.103.177] the sound of zombies underfoot

The image up top is an example of how the hills just kind of pop up out of nowhere like that. They are very sheer and you can become seriously wounded falling off of one.

So, I figured I'd try all the numbers and see what that got me. Not bad, but it could have been a lot better. Aside from a few really nice formations (including the spire in the top photograph), a few packs of wolves, and challenges from some shadow-protected bad guys, this level is actually quite boring. There's a good number of trees, but serious threats and pitfalls abound, making this a level not suited for beginners.

Items of Interest

  • [77.71.51] a small cave

Images

This is a big fat spire that grows out of the ground right next to the rushing waters of a waterfall pouring out of the mountain that I'm on (just out of frame). At right, this is a great overhang I found with deep shadows that allows this skeleton to remain perfectly healthy and on patrol during the day.

This seed isn't going to win any Top 10 awards anytime soon, but I will tell you this -- the water in this level is epic. It's both vast and deep. I was at Y=57 for whole minutes at a time... except when I was breathing, of course. To say this is an archipelago is a laugh. There is a tiny island in the center of the level and then there are four big islands in each of the corners. Swimming is not an option. As for the islands themselves: unremarkable. You get the occasional hill, but that's about it. Worth playing to swim so far you start thinking drowning is the only way out, but not fun for anyone who isn't looking for a challenge.

Items of Interest

  • [-385.65.-121] sugar
  • [-42.66.30] zombie sounds
  • [136.82.23] spire

At top, this was an interesting crooked spire that jutted out of a hillside on the island where I spawned. Actually, I spawned in the water (surprise), so this was on the island near me. At right, I was greeted with this view as I approached the island catty-corner to the one I started on.

This seed was a great surprise. Wondering around this board, I found coal, iron, and plenty of other goodies just sitting out in the open everywhere I walked. It was tremendous. This is, in fact, the first board to receive this high a score in the resource category. Beyond that, it's a great level. Well balanced and challenging. There are epic cliffs that take ten to fifteen minutes to climb. I highly recommend this level for experts looking for some serious challenges.

  • [-194.65.-395] two large deposits of iron and coal

The seed "fifa" is nice... it is... but it's nothing like the hype I've been reading on-line. It has the iconic floating spaceship rock that is really cool, but the rest of the board lacks the same gravitas that you would think pours out of every rock the way these guys go on and on about it. I will admit that when I first started the board, my spawn was at the base of the falls, so before I even got to do anything, water started rushing by me -- which was a cool effect. I found a lot of black sheep, several lava pits, and swam up the massive waterfall. All good fun.

Items of Interest

  • [-46.68.64] I love falling sand, so when I dug here and it all fell away, I giggled
  • [30.69.-127] a hidi-hole
  • [63.66.-164] a nice sized lava pit
  • [130.81.-376] spire
  • [-11.60.-335] zombie sounds
  • [-109.73.-320] several overhangs

Cold, barren, and icy. This level has few trees but some conveniently place frozen water for getting around and some good caves to have a look at. This seed is basically two main islands, one to the northeast and the other to the southwest. Even though the majority of the world is flat, I rated this level high in hills because the few hills it has are epic, interesting, and hard to traverse. Incidentally, in the photo above, you can see a clay deposit in addition to the interesting formation.

Well, it's a good beginner level. If you're interested in sugar, then this is the place for you. I found no less than four deposits of significant amounts of sugar. So, the shot at the top of this post is the one I saw when the gave first loaded up. So I knew I was in for something special. Check off one waterfall from the list. Moving on, this was a nice hilly board with a few mountains and plenty of trees, making the trek a tough adventure. There were many submerged caves throughout the level. In addition to the waterfall, I also found a lava fall in a cave in another part of the map. I think this one is definitely worth a good hard look.

Items of Interest

  • [-36.73.-29] shortcut cave
  • [-67.65.-6] the sound of zombies
  • [-67.71.127] the sound of even more zombies
  • [-100.66.145] a shortcut cave with a fairly deep cave connected in the middle
  • [-140.64.106] a cave with a lava fall in it

Image Coordinates

At top, you can't really complain when this is the view you start out with. Now, it's my front yard. The image at right is a really cool lava fall that I found inside of a cave. I suspect, based on it's flow pattern, that if you plug it up there is a cavern underneath, but that's just a guess. You can give it a shot at -141.64.106.

My Review

Sticking with my theme of the day which was don't over think it (see "2"), I decided that "asdf" might give me something. Nope. Don't get me wrong, it's an okay board and definitely suitable for beginners, but don't think this thing is going to rock your world anytime soon. The northwest of the map is covered in mountains. I was not impressed by the availability of any goods, so really this is a basic map with some cute elements that make it worth a one-time look.

Items of Interest

  • [-207.70.-157] a hidi-hole
  • [-299.73.-258] a deep cave (more like a hole in the game)
  • [-211.85.-202] the tree cave
  • [-321.70.-345] a cool land bridge
  • [-398.68.-298] zombies can be heard here; start digging!

Image Coordinates

A four corners shot of -- you guessed it -- a Minecraft board. At right, this is a tree growing out of a cave. I know, right? There are also flowers surrounding the cave which was interesting because it's in a part of the board that is otherwise empty (-211.85.-202) so it almost calls you over to it.

My Review

I would never crow about a level whose only features were gravel and snow -- though both are readily available in this seed. In few other maps do you have to climb this far up just to climb so far down. The caves on this map are quite treacherous. One wrong step can cut your health in half -- or worse. Your whole existence is going to be about producing torches.

Items of Interest

  • [-180.74.-249] hidi-hole with gravel and coal
  • [-218.71.-137] deep cave with a waterfall
  • [-194.69.-150] deep cave; in my notes I have "20M"... I think that's how long it took me to get the hell back out of the thing.
  • [101.77.-105] deep cave
  • [196.72.-14] yet another deep cave (get the drift?)

Image Coordinates

The top image is an island that you have to visit. I heard zombies everywhere I stepped. At right, a really deep cave that -- if you look closely -- contains a naturally illuminated waterfall. It's neat. You can swim back out of the cave at -218.71.-137.

My Review

I had a great spawn point on this one that had a hidi-hole filled with iron. Go figure! You're going to find lots of sheep -- including a few black sheep -- and lots of gravel. This is a great board for beginners with some really cool rock formations and a land bridge that is part sand and part rock.

Items of Interest

  • [0.78.91] there's an interesting path through a mountain that you can see through from one end to the other which makes it like a natural doorway
  • [398.66.-348] I didn't have time to investigate, but there's a gravel pit here with zombie noises coming from underneath. Look into that for me.
  • [-91.69.0] a valley that runs between two cliffs in the southwest of the map. Very scenic.
  • [324.68.-215] a shortcut cave

Image Coordinates

The top image is of a land bridge that's part sand and part mud. Really cool. You can find that at 217.85.-183. The image at right is the mouth of a cave that I didn't feel like climbing up to because it's wedged between two steep cliffs.
